Mediterranean Sea
An Ocean of Life to Discover and Protect
The cradle of civilizations and a crossroads of cultural, human, and economic exchanges that have shaped our history, the Mediterranean is a global biodiversity hotspot—a sea that breathes life into a region unlike any other in the world. From the peaks of the Alps to the mouths of rivers, from olive groves to limestone cliffs, from Posidonia seagrass beds to underwater canyons, every Mediterranean ecosystem depends on this sea to thrive. And, through them, all the life that inhabits them.
We Are Mediterranee
Art and Science in the Service of Biodiversity
Preserving biodiversity means protecting the future of human societies as much as that of the species that inhabit them. At the intersection of imagery and research, we invite everyone to reconnect with the natural world and rediscover just how much the Mediterranean supports life and the balance of our planet. By exploring its mysteries and deepening our knowledge, we can better understand, better protect, and pass on this priceless natural heritage to future generations.

Book: “Mediterranean, Pelagos Sanctuary”
A photographic journey into the heart of a treasure trove of biodiversity
This book is the result of several years ofexploration at sea and close collaboration between photographers, scientists, and ocean advocates. It pays tribute to the beauty, richness, and fragility of the Pelagos Sanctuary, a unique marine protected area in the Mediterranean shared by France, the Principality of Monaco, and Italy.
Through striking images, discover an often-overlooked biodiversity hotspot: a treasure trove of life where cetaceans, sea turtles, rays, sharks, and bluefin tuna coexist alongside groupers, octopuses, seahorses, corals, and so many other iconic or elusive species. More than just a book, it is an invitation to reconnect humanity with Mare Nostrum and to commit to preserving our shared natural heritage.
Awareness
Screenings, lectures, and presentations
Mediation is at the heart of We Are Méditerranée’s mission.
It forges a vital link between science, art, and society to raise awareness of marine biodiversity issues.
Through exhibitions, lectures, screenings, and storytelling, we transform knowledge into emotion.
This thoughtful approach fosters understanding, raises awareness, and inspires action. Gaining a better understanding of the Mediterranean is the first step toward protecting it.
